New Friends and Angels

Even though things have been somewhat chaotic, we've still manage to find time to meet some new folks and have dinner with some of our usual friends. A couple that follows our blog visited Cuenca earlier in the week and brought a suitcase of things for the children at CORFRA. This is Angela unpacking the toiletries and toys.

Another couple that was visisting was Jeni and Paul.

Today we made a trip to CORFRA to take some fresh fruits and chickens. On a previous visit, Sra. Maria Mercedes told us that they always need fresh fruits and meat. She gave us a look at the pantry to see exactly what food they have. The pantry had quite a few staples; when asked about specific food needs, we were once again told that they always need fresh fruits, meat, and milk. We have received several monetary gifts which will provide assistance for now.
Another purpose of the visit was to take the measurements of some of the children for Christmas gifts. Here is Angie measuring Juan Fernando. He is our Christmas Angel.
Miguel is getting measured next. He is at the orphage along with his brother Henry, who is sitting in the background beside Mick.

Miguel and Patricio are clowning a bit.
Jim and Annabel.
This is Sondra, who has been at the orphanage for 3 months.
Annabel is getting her foot measured.
Angel is doing his homework.
The children are always thrilled to see us and welcome us with hugs. It takes just a little time to make the trip to Sayausi and visit with them. Tomorrow the children will be attending a Christmas party sponsored by the government at La Quinta Lucretia. Children from other orphanages will be attending also.

On Sunday, we are planning another visit with the children. Our Christmas party for the children will be held on the afternoon of Christmas Eve. Our hope is that as many of the Angel sponsors as possible will be able to attend so they can see the smiles of the children.

To all of those who are sponsoring angels or have made various types of contributions, on behalf of the children, we thank you so very much. What you have done has touched a life. Not only are you helping with the care of angels, but you are angels as well.

Until next time,
Mick and Kathy
