Just Another Friday

Everyday we find ourselves becoming more settled. The major tasks have been taken care of, but there are little things to be done. One of these was the addition of a corner shelf in the master bath. Since Mick's tool box is sitting in the crate in Guayaquil, there was little chance that he would be able to do it. Fernando Moscoso, who works with Carlos Machuca and picked us up last week, offered to take care of it. This is Fernando in our shower. Fernando also has a farm and markets a line of dried fruits and dried pork jerky. The brand is Ferbola and the snacks are quite yummy.

Accompanying Fernando was his father-in-law, Mario. Mario came to move the internet router into the office.
We haven't had a chance to go to the flower market, so I ran next door to the florist and picked up these lillies. They were a little more expensive but still far less than in Charlotte.

Today has been a training day for Gabriella. Things have gone a bit rough with her since our return; the primary problem is that she is not and never will be Denis. Denis always knew what to do. Gabriella does not yet know what is expected. Things went well and we're optimistic.

Tonight, as we have done for many years, we went out to dinner. The restaurant was one recommended by Fernando, Red Crab. Red Crab is located on Luis Moreno Mora at Francisco Moscoso. Obviously by the name is a seafood restaurant. It was spectacular. Service was impeccable and the food was exquisite, both in taste and presentation. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if Dale and Joannie had been there to enjoy it with us.

You are initially served chifles (fried banana chips) and tidbits of fish. For an appetizer, we ordered crab au gratin. The crab, as with the other seafood, was fresh and delicious. Mick had corvina melanesa, which is fried seabass. It was accompanied with steamed vegetables and fries. I had seabass served with sauce of shrimp and avocado, surrounded with a ring of mashed potatoes and accompanied by steamed vegetables.

We ended the delicious meal with coffee and crepes suzette topped with a sauce of fresh mixed fruit. For the end to the perfect evening, as I am making this entry, I heard the boom of fireworks and looked out the window to view a glorious fireworks display from somewhere in the vicinity of Parque Calderon. Just another Friday night.

Until next time,
Mick and Kathy
