A Time for Celebrating!

Saturday night was a special night for several of our dear friends; it was the one year anniversary of the opening of the California Kitchen. The Kitchen is owned and operated by the Evans family, with Carol and George leading the way. The restaurant has been important in the gringo community as a gathering place and a source of information. Congratulations on a successful first year!

The lovely meal was begun with an antipasta plate.
Guests had previously selected their entree. Mick and I both had Kung Pao Chicken, which is always delicious.

In addition to the anniversary of the restaurant, it was also Jim's 70th birthday. The hat was passed on.Part of our table.

The other side of the table with Carol at the end with Mick.

Jim was landing on 70.

Phillip and Judith were visiting Cuenca on vacation and were gracious to bring dog food for Nikolas. We had a lovely time with them and are expecting them to return in the late fall.

Everyone had a great time. It was a genuine celebration with friends of the Evans family in attendance. The evening concluded with a salsa show. My apologies for having no pictures of the family and staff; however, when the opportunity presented itself for the picture, the camera died.

We are genuinely grateful for having George and Carol as friends. They are truly an integral part of life in Cuenca. If you're planning a visit to Cuenca, definitely make this a stopping point. They offer a smile, encouragement and a plate of comfort food that you may be missing.

Congratulations on your first year!

Until next time,

Mick and Kathy
