In recent days, we've been introduced to a couple of new restaurants thatnu are worthy of sharing. Located 2 blocks off Remigio Crespo on Ricardo Munoz y Julio Matovelle is Habana Vieja. It has a limited menu consisting of traditional Cuban dishes, including ropa vieja (shredded beef with tomatoes, onions, raisins, and seasonings) and bistec a la palomilla ( grilled beef with onions). There are also several sandwiches on the menu. The restaurant is open from Wednesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner. Prices are reasonable, service is good. It is worth the time to drop by.
The Melting Pot comes to Cuenca at Fondues. Fondues is located a couple blocks off Av. Solano on Carlos Teran y Julio Matovelle. It is a lovely restaurant with a variety of cheese, oil, and chocolate fondues. We thank Cindy and Jim, who were vacationing in Cuenca, for this addition to our restaurant list.
In the tradition of the dish, Fondues offers good food with a relaxed atmosphere. For the oil fondues, there is a choice of chicken, beef, fish, and shrimp. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant is open Tuesday-Saturday beginning at 6PM. On Sunday, it is open for lunch, beginning at noon.
If you enjoy trying new restaurants, give these 2 a try. We've been to both several times and highly recommend them.
Until next time,
Mick and Kathy
